Current Projects

Salt Community Trust supports an ever-growing range of programmes and services to provide support to those in need in our community, including:

Mainly Music
A weekly music class for preschoolers and their mums where little kids get to boogie and mums get to have a break and make new friends, connecting with other parents.

Move and Groove
Move and Groove is a music and movement programme for adults with disabilities.  Rock out to the beats of the 1970’s and 1980’s.  A wonderful weekly time of fun and acceptance for some very special adults from our community.

24x7 Youth Workers
Salt Trust employs four Youth Workers who implement the 24x7 programme at Orewa College.  We believe in the young people of our community and want to see them enjoy their time at College and to build a great foundation to launch themselves into adult life. Our youth workers hang out with those that need support - listening, encouraging and "being there".  The focus is on relationships not programmes. It encompasses role modelling, being accessible to young people and being around to help young people make good choices.

Foodbank and Mealbank

A practical way to help families in need through the provision of both foodboxes containing pantry items and pre-prepared meals.

Orewa Community Christmas Day Lunch
This annual event provides lunch and festive cheer for approximately 250 adults and children that would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone.   With generous financial and practical support from local businesses and churches, this is a true community event.  A fantastic team of volunteers set up Christmas dining tables, prepare and cook food, serve and chat and then clean up.

Parenting Courses
Large and small events with expert speakers to equip mums and dads with the skills they need to positively parent.
